Background
Family Day Care Program, Inc. is funded primarily through contracts with the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care. Other funders include Boston Public Schools, local child care resource and referral agencies. Family Day Care Program, Inc. is certified by The Massachusetts Supplier Diversity Office (SDO) as a minority not for profit organization (M/NPO), and abides by the guidelines and policies of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity.
History
Family Day Care Program, Inc. is a private not for profit agency, with a 501(c) (3) status, originally founded in 1971 as a part of the Women’s Educational and Industrial Union. As the first home based family child care system in Massachusetts, Family Day Care Program opened its doors over four decades ago. What began as a small part time program, operating in the heart of Boston, now provides services to Boston and surrounding areas, supporting over 250 families on a daily basis.

Family Day Care Program’s mission is to serve the economically, culturally and linguistically diverse neighborhoods in the Greater Boston Area.
Philosophy
Safety, Well-Being and Healthy Development of Young Children
Family Day Care Program, Inc.’s prime concerns are the safety, well being, and healthy development of the young children in our care. Our staff of early childhood education, social work and human service professionals is dedicated to excellence, and makes every effort to meet the individual and varied needs of each family who joins our program. Our philosophy is one of tolerance and inclusion. We endeavor to provide support to the parent and each child (ren) from the first day of early education and care to the last.
Activities
We provide licensed in home early childhood education and care and related support services for infants, toddlers and pre-school age children during regular working and school hour schedules as well as non-traditional hours of care (including week-ends). Families receive early childhood education and care in the homes of our Licensed Educators. Our Licensed Affiliated Educators attend early education workshops, seminars and college classes to obtain accreditation, credentials and college degrees in early childhood education.
